Bishop Meade book now available

Some time ago, I posted on this blog various chapters from an old pamphlet by The Rt. Rev. William Meade (See Index in the sidebar: "Meade").  I have collected the whole pamphlet with a little more material and published it as a book.  You can find it here on Amazon .

Bishop Meade posts

I finally realized that I needed to label all the previous posts on Bishop Meade's booklet, so I have done so. You will now find all the posts with links to the .pdf files in the Index under "Meade." Sorry to have not done that sooner.

Meade Chapter 6 - Conclusion

Below is the link to the sixth chapter of Bishop Meade's Reasons for Loving the Episcopal Church . It is a .pdf file. Meade Chapter 6 . The conclusion is brief. It is followed by an appendix which I will post soon. Below is a very interesting paragraph from this conclusion: "Viewing her as to doctrine, discipline, and worship, we claim no infallibility for her. Meade on the Nature of the 39 Articles

I posted this portion of Meade's Chapter 4 before I finished editing the rest of the scan. I'll leave it up, though now I've posted the whole chapter as a .pdf (see next post above). THE DOCTRINE OF THE CHURCH. WE are commanded to "contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to tbe saints." That faith is in the sacred Scriptures, and we have shown how our Reformers regarded them as the only rule of faith, drawing all their doctrines and prayers from them. That faith is also briefly set forth in the Creeds, for the preservation of the same, and for purposes of worship. In the Apostles' Creed we have the faith which each baptized adult and child is bound to receive. It is not affirmed that it was actually drawn up by the Apostles, each one furnishing a part, as some have said, but only that it contained the sum and substance of what the ApostIes believed and taught. Wherefore, in the article on the subject, it is said, "which is commonly called the Apos...

Principle on Which the Reformation was Conducted III. Worship of the Church IV. Doctrine of the Church V. Discipline of the Church VI. The Church not Perfect APPENDIX. Showing that the English and Continental Reformers were perfectly agreed as to the principle on which the Reformation was conducted. The first chapter covers the history of the CofE from the New Testament era to the reign of EI, with brief mention of the CofE in America. I am skipping this chapter for now and have scanned the second. Right now I'm thinking I'll eventually scan the whole booklet (52pp) into a .pdf or some such and have a link on my blog so you can download it. Because of the holiday, I'm going to have to pos...
