From an Encyclical Letter, Bishops of the Anglican Communion, Lambeth Place, A.D. 1888.
We ... most earnestly press upon the Clergy the importance of taking, as the central thought of their teaching, our LORD JESUS CHRIST, as the sacrifice for our sins, as the healer of our sinfulness, the source of all spiritual life, and the revelation to our consciences of the law and motive of all moral virtue. To Him and to His work all the teachings of the Old Testament converge, and from him all the teachings of the New Testament flow, in spirit, in force, and in form.
